WHAT’S WITH THE NAME
Way back when, apothecaries, the mixologist of the day, created recipes based on very precise weights and measures. Turns out, a pound was 12 ounces, and every ounce had 8 drachms, and of course everyone knows that each drachm has 3 scruples right?
Well, who knew that 3 scruples was also 60 grains. So a pound was actually equal to about 5,760 grains. Of course it varied from here to there – the French as they do, enjoyed jacking up the ounces to pounds ratio at will.
But what does this have to do with digital? For us, the granular detail and pixel perfect precision has to be balanced beautifully with the heavy, big picture ideas we bring to the table. Hence, Pound & Grain. But it also could be a fine grainy mustard, but that is for another story…
